A paragraph on Your/My School Diary

I am a student of the YWCA Higher Secondary Girls' School located at 11 Green Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Our school supplies a school diary to each student. It is a bound book containing a form of personal Memoranda at the beginning of the diary. Every student fills in the form. Then there are three pages meant for class routine. Names of the days are printed at the vertical left column and periods are mentioned at upper column horizontally. Class routine may change at different times of the year. So these three pages are kept for accommodating the new routines. The rest of the pages of the diary contain the printed pages with the heading 'Home work' at the top of the page and underneath the heading. There are sub-headings— Date, Subject & Task. Every student is to record the date, subjects taught and home works given at different periods of that date. Every student is to carry the diary with him/her at the school. This system of keeping a school diary is very useful to every student. I keep my diary regularly. It helps me much to prepare my lessons and to do my home works regularly.

A paragraph on The Necessity of Physical Exercise

Physical exercise means the movement of different limbs of the body to keep them mobile and strong. The proper growth of different organs of the body depends on physical exercise. Without it none can enjoy good health. It makes a man strong and active and keeps him free from diseases. Regular physical exercise ensures a sound mind in a sound body. It offers us recreation too. It keeps our mind away from drudgery of work and fills it with joy. It gives us fresh energy and helps us to return to work with renewed vigour. It ensures proper circulation of blood in our body and increases the power of digestion. It prolongs our life and strengthens our mind. A man who takes physical exercise regularly looks stronger and younger than his age. But all sorts of exercise are not suitable for men and women of all ages. Running, swimming, playing, LT, riding are suitable for the young, while walking is good for the old. Again, morning and evening are the proper time for taking physical exercise. If we want to live a happy and healthy life and to keep our body strong and active, we should take regular physical exercise.

A Paragraph on How We Have Observed the Victory Day

Victory Day Observed
Every year we observe the 16th December as a Victory Day. On this day in 1971 the barbarous Pakistani army surrendered to the joint commander of the Indian Army and Bangladesh Liberation Forces. Through their surrender the nine months' War of Liberation came to an end and Bangladesh came into existence as an independent sovereign state. As such this day is regarded as the Victory Day. Yesterday we observed this Victory Day in our school premises in a ceremonious way. The function began with the hoisting of our national flag at 6 o'clock in the morning. In the afternoon a discussion meeting was held with the headmaster in the chair. The Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation was the chief guest. Students, guardians and other guests also attended the function. The students sang some patriotic songs. A few students recited patriotic poems of Tagore and Nazrul. Various speakers spoke on the occasion explaining the significance of the day in our national life. The function came to a close with a vote of thanks by the assistant teachers.

A paragraph on How to Do Well in the Examination

A student who studies regularly, learns his lessons well and makes a good preparation is sure to do well in the examination. But there are some students who work hard but cannot do well in the examination. To do well in the examination, a student should be regular to his studies from the very beginning of the year. It helps a student to prepare his lessons thoroughly. Many students neglect their studies at the beginning and when the examination approaches, they start cramming. But cramming does not help a student in time of his need. Clear concept about a subject helps a student to answer the questions properly. Secondly, a student has to make his notes for the examinations through proper understanding and constant practice. Because without understanding memorized things may not be effective when a student wants to reproduce them. Again, a student should have a fairly good command of the language to answer the uncommon questions set in the examination. Above all, to do well in the examination a student must he industrious, dutiful, sincere, punctual and hard working

A paragraph on How to Learn English Well

Learneng: Dialogue about how to learn English wellMost of the students of our country feel much difficulty in learning English well. I would like to put here some suggestions about how to learn English well and how to secure good marks in English. The first and foremost duty of a student is to attend his/her English classes regularly and listen to what his/her teachers say in the classes. Secondly, he has to read English correctly and try to understand it properly. Reading a thing correctly and then understanding the same properly will help him to know the same in a better way. Thirdly, a student has to write frequently what he has learnt. The practice of writing is a good way of knowing a subject and a language. Finally, a student should make the habit of speaking English in their day to day life. This will help him to speak English well. I believe, if anybody follows the above method he will soon feel easy to read, write and speak English well.

I made an enjoyable journey by train last week. I like to tell something about it. My elder sister lives in Dhaka with her husband. My parents told me to pay a visit to her residence. So. I accompanied by two of my friends took a journey by train from Jamalpur to Dhaka. We bought our tickets and got into the train at 5 a.m. It was an inter-city train. It stopped only at Mymensingh and then reached Dhaka, We had an exciting experience of the journey. The train was not very crowded. We enjoyed the mild jerking of the train and the rhythmic sounds of the wheels. We also enjoyed various scenes on the both sides of the railway line. They seemed to be running in the opposite direction. Houses, trees, bridges and stations came and vanished in the twinkling of an eye. All these were worth seeing and enjoying. We enjoyed them very much. The memory of the journey will remain ever fresh in my mind.

A journey by air is thrilling and at the same time enjoyable. A few days ago, I made such a journey from Dhaka to Chittagong, It was December 23, 2002. I arrived at the Zia International Airport, Dhaka, about an hour before the flight. An airport officer checked my ticket and did all other formalities for the flight. At about 8:30 a.m. I boarded the plane with other fellow passengers. When all the passengers were in, the plane took off. Soon the plane started flying high above the land at full speed towards the destination. Looking through the window I saw patches of clouds floating around the plane. The houses and trees below were looking like tiny toys. Rivers flowing below appeared to be thin lines drawn on a sheet of paper. I was beside myself in joy in such a amazing situation. It was a short journey. In less than an hour the plane reached Chittagong Airport, It gradually came down and landed smoothly. Thus my first but happy and enjoyable journey came to an end. Although I felt a little nervous at the beginning, I got it over after a short while. I really enjoyed the journey.
