A paragraph on My Town
My Town |
My native town is Chittagong. It is the major port city of Bangladesh. It is situated on the river Karnafuli. Chittagong is remarkable for many beautiful hillocks within the town. The court buildings are situated on one of these hillocks. There are many schools and colleges, a Medical college, a University and numerous other educational institutions in this town. The New Market is the busy fashionable shopping centre here. There are many other big plazas and markets here. There is a big Railway workshop at Pahartali. There are also a Steel Mill, a fertilizer factory and a oil refinery here. Many other mills and factories and business centres have added much to the importance of the port city. Chittagong has been an interesting town for many centuries. Anderkilla still commemorates a pre-Mughal fort, which is now extinct. The Jam-e-Masjeed in the heart of the town is the oldest surviving monument dating from the early Mughal period. The temple of the goddess Chatteswari, is also worth-seeing. Buddhism also has its relics in the town. In the heart of the city there is a big and fine park called the Faij lake which is worth-seeing. Chittagong is the second populous town in Bangladesh. The sea is only four to five miles off from here. So its climate is good. Chittagong is dear to me and I am proud that I am born and brought up here.
A Paragraph on Our School Library
Our School Library |
A school library is a collection of books which are
used by the students. It is a store house of knowledge. There are usually text
books, reference books, story books, books of drama, novel, daily newspaper
etc. Our school has also a library. The library is of an idle standard. There
are nearly two thousand books on different subjects. There are biographies,
novels, books on travels, science and religious books. It also contains some
rare books on history and culture. The books are arranged on shelves subject
wise. So we face no problem while finding out books. There are a librarian and
an assistant. The librarian and his assistants are well-read persons. They are
qualified enough to guide the students in matters of choice of books. The library
room is well lighted and spacious. There are two reading rooms attached to it.
One is for the boys and the other is for the girls. There are also sitting
arrangement for the students to study and take down notes. The students of our
school spend their busiest hours in the library. The very atmosphere of our
library is inspiring. The library administration is so planned as to attract
the bright and the weaker students to the library. In fact, our school library
may best be regarded as the centre of our academic life in the school. It is an
ideal place for study.
A paragraph on How to become a good student
A Good Student |
To become a good student is a matter of patience
and routine work. So to become a good student first of all one should make a
routine of one’s daily activities and act according to it. He should be regular
to his studies. He should read at least 6 hours a day. He should attend his classes regularly. He
should try to understand what he is taught and what he reads. If he faces any
problem, he should discuss it with his teachers. A good student makes his own
notes. After completing a note once, he should check and re-check them
frequently. Thus a standard note is prepared. He should write more and more and
prepare himself for the exams. A good student always keeps good relationship with
his classmates. He takes help from the bright students and helps the weak ones.
He should not mix with the bad students. He should have respect for his
parents, teachers and elders. All these may help a student greatly to become a
good student.
A Paragraph on A Farmer
A Farmer |
An ideal farmer is a very important person in our society but his condition beggars description. Generally, a farmer is a poor man. He lives hand to mouth. His house is made of waved iron sheets or straws. Most often he has no land of his own. So, he cultivates the land of others on the basis of sharing the crop between him and land-owner. He gets up very early in the morning and takes a little breakfast. He goes to his field for work. He cultivates and prepares his land with simple handmade tools. Sometimes he is too busy that he cannot make time to go home for the midday meal. he earns his livelihood by the sweat of his brow. He has both pleasure and pains in his life. He gets pleasures when he has a good harvest. But he gets pains when his crops are destroyed by droughts, floods or cyclones. Again, he does not get proper price ofhis goods whern he sells them. We know that ours is an agricultural country. More than 80% people are directly or indirectly engaged in agriculture. Our economy is mostly dependent on agriculture. So, to promote the development of national economy, the farmers should be helped with agricultural subsidies by the government.

A Paragraph on The Picnic I Have Recently Enjoyed
Picnic |
The picnic that I have recently enjoyed is still
crystal clear in my memory. It was me who first thought of the arrangement of
the picnic. I shared the idea with some of my friends. They supported the idea
warmly. Then we informed our other friends about the picnic. Some of them
agreed to attend the picnic. Totally 40 of us agreed to go on the picnic. We
shared it with our parents. They allowed us to go on the picnic. Some of our
guardians decided to accompany us. Actually their company was necessary for our
guidance. Then we made a plan. We all decided to go to Moinamoti in Comilla. We
fixed a date also. The fixed date was Friday. The fixed date arrived. In the
meantime, we completed the necessary deeds for the arrangement of the picnic.
i.e. We hired a bus. One of our guardians booked a hotel in comilla. We calculated
the cost. We hired a speaker also. Our bus started for Moinamoti at 7.00am . on that day. We started
singing different interesting songs. The natural beauty of that area is very
charming. Watching the scenery I could understand why most of the poets are so
much interested in nature. However, we reached there at 11.30am . We went around the place. It was a
place of historical importance. We took a lot of photographs there. We stayed
there for 5 hours. In the meantime we all took our lunch in a hotel booked before.
We started for our city at 4.00pm .
It took another 5 hours to reach here. Our guardians were waiting for our
arrival. Then we came back to our house saying bye to one another.
